Friday Folder Letter Jan 7, 2011

Reading: Ask what a “Goldilocks Book” is!

Writing: Character Study: Our new genre bin is “bubble books”.  Ask us about what they are about!

Word Work: In our ‘tool box’ we reviewed letter sounds, vowels, letter pattern groups, and ‘instant words’.

Math: Patterns on number lines.Greater than/less than/equals

We talked about math terms such as ‘before’ and ‘after’

Social Studies: For Kindertown  we discussed poverty and the many possible causes of poverty.  We thought about “Rescue Teams” and what kinds of organizations help people.

We raised $85.27 in our Christmas Cafe! We decided on which animal we would fund for a family using Heifer International.  Heifer is a rescue team organization that helps with farms and food. We decided to purchase Bees and Trees!

Look for report cards at the end of January! Happy Weekend!

Thank you, Heidi and Pat, for providing this blog site for us. It’s wonderful to not only hear about what you are doing in class, but to also get glimpses into how it is all happening. And the additional resources are great, too! Wonderful!
